In the first article, the United States refugee program has to lay off about 140 staff members and has to close 5 offices that were full of refugees. Since Trump made this law, several of the agencies have been trying to get their numbers back now that they can't go to the government for help with payments anymore. It will have a negative effect on the Refugee resettlement and can be decimated. The federal government can help with the cost of a little bit. $2,025 is a grant that refugees get when they are in the U.S. for about 90 days. It is troubling  that there is going to be a loss of 140 jobs. Since there is a guess of about 50,000 refugees coming to the U.S. in 2017 it will not be good for business so that will push back their arrival date. In the second article, lots of people (asylum-seekers) cross from the United States to Canada illegally in the freezing cold. Amla fears that Refugees will no longer be safe in the U.S. Everyone for example, immigrants lawyers are trying to see another way around the agreement or trying to write it over again. Canada and the U.S. have very different views on how to handle the immigration process of people getting across the border. Laws are different in Canada than in the U.S. so it makes it hard to negotiate what to do with immigrants. There are some causes where asylum- seekers were approved by Canada but were not by the United States. Once people are able to get past the border than the agreement does not apply to them anymore, so they can stay. Canada has shut down talk of getting the Third Country Agreement on immigration.
