The first article from, The San Diego Union-Tribune, explains the increase of refugees that have entered the United States and are settling in San Diego. The number of refugees that were counted in this past January that were in San Diego is the same number that was recorded in December, even though Donald Trump had signed an executive order to ban refugees from coming into the U.S. for 120 days. It showed that many refugees are still trying to come to this country despite everything that is being thrown at them, especially the ones that are specifically banned from entering. Many of them, being families, are going through programs which help them come into the United States. There are people who are doing what they can to help these refugees get into the U.S. without any harm, and there are people who are trying to get involved, especially after the 120-day ban. Refugees go through their own fair share of problems here in the United States. In an article on Time.com, which explains how women are using food to go against Trump. These women that are living in this country are afraid that they will be sent back to their countries where the war is still going on. They organize events where they make and sell plates of food and the profits that they receive are divided between them and they use the extra money for their own purposes. This is the way that they are able to live on their own here in the U.S. without being classified as a lower group of people because of their race. They work while doing something that they love to do and feel comfortable while doing so. Even though they are refugees, they are only looking towards bettering their lives here in the U.S. and not harm the lives and safety of others around them.
I enjoyed how you discussed how people continue to flood the Unites States, even with the immigration ban still in progress. Also how you talked about how woman from other countries prefer to living here because of how they used to be treated while working in their original country. Giving them more freedom in the United States.
ReplyDeleteGreat articles! It seems that the author concludes that the women are immigrating to enrich their lives rather than destroying land and others (as Trump seems to believe). I like how the author explains exactly how the women are working and enjoying themselves, focusing on the real reason for them coming over. The author gives a strong argument and reasonable conclusion based on stories of the women.
