Uncivil Discourse

            Uncivil discourse is going to be around for a long time and most likely will get worst because of various reasons such as the media blaring almost nonstop about what is going on in the U.S. that a lot of people are resorting to speaking of violence and resorting to violence as well. I believe that uncivil discourse is not something that should be anywhere near using free speech and I believe that it is very harmful to those who hear it, witness it and even say it. The media uses the people who want to voice their concerns about various things that suggest when a person is trying to voice their concerns their emotions get the better of them and they say and do things that do not belong in a civil conversation or protest. The different kinds of speech deserves the right to not turn into something violent or using speech to push their own words that involve some ones death into a speech they spread to everyone especially when the media loves to hear so much people going about hating others for various reasons of their own. Some things that could be done to maybe get away from uncivil discourse is that maybe the people should look at all of the different sides that are involved in the discussion or protest while trying to put their own emotions away from the desire to do something or say something harmful.

            In an article that I read called "Pundits: Political discourse at all-time low" by Shawn K. Wickham is about talking on how uncivil discourse is escalating to the point where there is more than there was before the election of 2016 before the current President of the U.S. Trump was named. The author talks about how the media and other outlets want the escalation of uncivil discourse to continue because they thrive on all of the violence that speech has caused so much animosity towards those that they dislike in which the article also talks about how several people from politics are fed up with all of the speeches that end up being thrown out of proportion by several factors such as the media. The people who the author comments on suggest that they are those that want to find a way to stop the uncivil discourse with speech such as hate speech. Towards the end the author asks the person who they are talking to about a few ways to have them change in which they respond with that people need to start listening to others around them and see their side on how they view things to get a better understanding in which I faintly said something similar. In the end there are things that could help people not use uncivil discourse when talking or expressing their views, but the hard part is that people tend to get overridden by their own emotions which they do not think about what they are saying until it is already said especially when it comes to the media that it feels that it wants to exploit uncivil discourse for whatever reasons the media has.
