Uncivil discourse
Uncivil discourses leave the audience retaliating against racial injustice speeches. There are two main political parties, therefore there will always be disagreements. There will always be one dissatisfied party. Have you heard of the saying, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?" This was a lesson taught to us in preschool and repeatedly mentioned throughout grade school.
There will always be those who feel overly powerful to want to step on those who are inferior in their eyes. These people will use their position and political status to voice their discourse without thinking of the consequences. There are some people that can walk away with it and not be shunned by their conflicting words. This type of discourse can only stir trouble among the citizens affected.
I agree that as American citizens we have the right to practice freedom and speech. We have the right to exercise our rights but in a positive and appropriate manner, you're more likely to be heard. The negative and racial slurs only lead to racial hatred and crimes that were demonstrated in this type of discourse.
A great example of a uncivil discourse is demonstrated by the Republican senator of Tallahassee, Florida, Frank Articles. He was caught and reported for using offensive racial slurs. How did he assume that his words would not be seen as offensive. At the time, the people in the room did not walk away and turn their heads. He is a public figure, a senator, but this does not give him the right to publicly offend and discriminate against another race. He must have felt he was invisible. What else is the Florida Legislative expecting from him since his 3 minute apology wasn't enough. He's surely not the first to run his mouth in an offensive manner, will he be the first to lose his seat for it. There have been much greater accusations in higher positions that have been at stake yet you see them stationed in their positions. First of all, he wasn't thinking about the position he holds when he orally discriminated and the consequences that could follow. There's a time and place to relieve your emotions and vent, it certainly wasn't at the time of work when surrounded by colleagues at a meeting!

Social media such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and other media outlets can have a huge impact in providing news and information to the public. Many times the media covers only one side of the story or provide misleading information in order to gain public attention. Unfortunately providing false information can have several negative consequences such as causing people to lose their jobs or influence people to commit crimes. From what I've read in the article uncivil discourse can be harmful especially, if misinformation or message is coming from a public figure or community leaders. Public figures or leaders should be aware that the messages they are conveying can be damaging as they have the ability to influence the opinions of others. Moreover, I personally feel posting misinformation or promoting violence is unprofessional and sometimes it is better to keep our opinions to ourselves.
